Warning - do not queue on a railway crossing, near Willington village

Local residents have contacted Mercia Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) expressing concerns about drivers queuing on a railway crossing near Willington.

With utility roadworks currently in place at the junction between Findern Lane and Etwall Road, there is a risk of congestion in the local area.

Police are therefore urging drivers not to idle on the track at the Etwall Road railway level crossing in Willington.

Drivers should not ignore level crossing signage - as it could have tragic consequences.

Motorists should remain alert, comply with the signage and make sure the exit is clear before moving on to a crossing. It is important to remain patient - and it is never worth the risk just to move a few metres further forward.
